Setting Environments for linked CI's

Setting Environments for linked CI's

By default all linked CI's are linked with an environment of "none". uControl gives you the ability to define all environments of an application in a single step. To do this we set the environment attribute for all linked CI's within the application definition.

The application environments that are available to select are defined by the uControl administrator. If you do not see the correct environment for your CI please contact you uControl system administrator.

Setting the Environment for CI's

For each linked CI:

  1. Highlight the row in the linked CI table
  2. Click the "Edit Environment" button at the top right of the table
  3. From the dropdown menu select the correct environment
  4. Click "Set"

Update all related CI environments

By setting the environment for linked CI's including Hosts, Mainframe Partitions and Clusters will automatically update all related CI's with the same environment settings. Eg. Link 10 Software Instances that are all running on a single host. Navigate to the Servers CI Type screen and update the environment to "Production". This will now update the Host CI and all 10 Software Instance CI's to have the environment "Production".

This will only work for related CI's that do not have an environment set. If they are set and you would like to overwrite the envirnment for these related CI's see the next section regarding the Update All Checkbox.

Update All Configuration Items checkbox

If mistakes have been made while setting the environments then selecting the "Update All Configuration Items" checkbox available on the Hosts, Mainframe Partition and Cluster CI's popup while configuring the environments will overwrite the configured environments for all related CI's.
